Why is ISOLS important for me?

Because ISOLS is the first largest meeting on musculoskeletal oncology with full of new expertise.
In order to get ceaseless progress in this field, we, tumor surgeons, have to keep going forward through ISOLS activities.

"ISOLS is my international "go to" peer group in Orthopaedic Oncology. socially it also represents an important group of international friends who I've bonded with now for many years and I believe this is the ethos we share as members of the ISOLS organisation. I've been attending since 1999 and it's always great to catch up with my fellow members as we share time together, resume our friendships from the last time we met to learn , celebrate successes but importantly often share difficult cases and learn from each other"

Secretary (Italy)

Pietro Ruggieri

To me ISOLS is especially important for several reasons.
As a member of different orthopaedic and orthopaedic oncology Societies, in which I am fully involved with a considerable amount of commitments, I do believe that orthopaedic oncology Societies have a paramount role in education and knowledge update in our field.
EMSOS in Europe and MSTS in the USA and far beyond are very active Societies, which I am honoured to be part of. ISOLS has an intercontinental breath and could/should be a "liaison" between the mentioned Societies and all the colleagues over the world. Some of the founding members and "fathers" of our Society are Franklin H. Sim, Mario Campanacci, Rainer Kotz, Ed Chao and many others, well-known pioneers in musculoskeletal oncology. ISOLS has always played a crucial role and nowadays is more and more confirming this in the international scenario.
I have had the pleasure and honour to be President of ISOLS, while currently I am Membership Chair. Besides, I was appointed as organiser of 2013 ISOLS Annual Meeting in Bologna, which was quite successful.
I think that ISOLS will continue to promote education for new generations of orthopaedic oncology surgeons and cultural exchange among all us worldwide involved in the sector of musculoskeletal oncology.

"Working in the field of oncology implies an additional responsibility to the usual medical task. The provision of knowledge, understanding and compassion to the patient makes our involvement, with him and his family, even greater with the consequent personal emotional impact. The support of a strong, consolidated, well-integrated and highly prestigious scientific society worldwide, such as ISOLS, makes us feel supported and understood in our daily work, being able to give our best to the patients."

Why is ISOLS important for me?

The ISOLS is scientific society especially focusing on surgical treatment of bone and soft tissue sarcomas. My first important presentation was at ISOLS Meeting, which was a very eye-opening experience. Since then the meetings have been educating and encouraging me to learn more about in the field of sarcomas. Thank you very much, ISOLS.

"It is an honor to be a part of a collaborative, international group of physicians, scientists, and engineers who come together to advance the science and clinical care of patients with cancer and other conditions."
Board Member (AUS)

"As an orthopaedic oncologist, ISOLS is the society that most represents my practice. Every ISOLS conference is an opportunity to share knowledge, innovations and experiences with our community of surgeons, to re-connect with friends and to make new ones, to learn and to give insights of our own successes and failures. Orthopaedic oncology is inevitably a relatively small community due to the rarity of the diseases we treat, and ISOLS provides the opportunity for us to continue to grow by connecting groups from all sides of the globe, so that everyone’s experience can be shared and can be used as a platform to further improve treatments of bone and soft tissue tumors."
Board Member (COL)

"A medical scientific society means that a group of people decided to come together to improve treatments and quality of lives of patients. ISOLS is an example of excellence, work and dedication, focusing its efforts on the best of knowledge, technology and human resources to save lives and limbs for the best of humanity."
